This is an important subject for me, read/listen closely. If you are FAT then maybe just maybe the information contained in the article will help you understand why, and how to change it..
Sometime in 2001, thanks to Nicorette, I quite smoking. My first cigarette was at age 7 and I began to smoke on a regular basis by age 11. From age 11 to age 31 I smoked about one pack (20 cigarettes a pack) a day for 365 days a year for 20 years. That brings the total number of cigarettes I inhaled into my body to around 1,460,000. Yep you are reading that correctly, 1.4 million cigarettes I inhaled into my body. Now to the important part, I was NOT told by anyone that cigarettes companies knowingly laced the cigarettes I smoked with chemicals. These chemical do the following: 1) KILL ME!. I could go into the exact nature of all the chemicals but that isn't the point. The point is the cigarette companies KNOWINGLY! conducting themselves in the behavior of killing me. Yes they knew, they had the research and the information at their finger tips. They knew cigarettes where highly addictive not because of the nicotine, but because of the additional chemicals they added to there product. I, at 11 or even 18 did not have this information nor did my parents. I didn't know I was addicted to the chemicals they added to cigarettes. If it was addicted to the nicotine alone, that would not have been a problem, hence good old Nicorette Gum. I chewed the gum for 1 year to the day and quite. Not a problem. Never chewed another piece of Nicorrete gum or smoked another cigarette again. I digress......
On to the FAT part, this is going to sound counter intuitive, but that is because it is. Up until I was 31, I was in fairly good shape. See the contradiction? Yes, you do, how can I smoke and be in fairly good health at the same time. Well, in my mind like most Americans I used my weight as a indicator, “I'm not overweight so I must be in good shape.” “I'm healthy right?” WRONG!. In my mind I was healthy.. I weighed around 200lbs. I'm 6' tall and handsome :-) When I quite smoking I gained weight just like everyone told me I would. (Small sacrifice for SAVING MY LIFE!) I thought to myself “Not a problem it will come off” 1 year passes and I weighed in at 230lbs. WOW that is a lot of weight. 2 years passes and I wieghed in at 250lbs. HOLLY SHIT!. I can't believe this what the hell is going on. I started freaking out. So I try a few diets and I just felt like I was depriving myself. (I speak as to why below). Now 5 years later and I'm still 250lbs. This weight gain affects every part of my life. It is out of control. I have to say I was starting to get desperate, much like other people I have seen struggle with their weight. Which brings me to the present and to the point. I have some very interesting FACTS that just might shine some light on this issue, I know it has for me. Now I'm going to do my best to set this up correctly, I want you to receive the full impact of this information. To feel it in such a way that you will take action today to make the changes you need in your life to be free from obesity. THIS IS NOT A DIET, IT IS THE TRUTH!
THE FACTS!
Fact #1 - According to the Department of Health and Human Services Center of Disease Control and Prevention, “66 percent of US adults are either overweight or obese”.

This is important to note, it is out of control, read it carefully, 66 percent. That is crazy! What the hell! Obesity is a problem 66 percent of Americans are dealing with right now. If you are one of the 66% obviously you are not alone. The conclusion I came to regarding this fact was surprisingly not one that I hear many people come to. Mostly because people in general have a hard time with the idea that someone or some company would knowingly do something that would kill them. Thank of it this way, something has changed, something that has had an impacting on 66% of the men and women in this country. Obviously, it must be something about the food we eat right? Yes of course, something has changed. Certainly if your reading this you don't seriously think that 66% of the American population suffers from lack of discipline or self-control. Do you? HELL NO! Which leads me to the question, what in the food has changed? ammmmmm On to Fact #2.
Fact #2 - High-fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS) (remember this name it is important)

Notice the statements above in bold. This is very important. Read it over and over again Until it hits you like a ton of bricks. If you are still trying to figure it out, here is some help. HFCS IS IN EVERYTHING. When you eat, your brain doesn't know that you are full. Once again, just like cigarettes a chemical (HFCS, yes it is a chemical) has been infused into a product that forces me to eat more than I ...., oh wait let me say this in a way that isn't so mmm obvious, here I go, When I eat food to nourish my body, my body doesn't know it has been nourished. It is my bodies natural reaction to food. It is how I stay alive on a daily bases. I eat food and drink water to fuel my body. My body then tells my brain it is full and I stop fueling my body. Think of it like filling up your car with gas, wouldn't it be foolish for you to know when your car is full without a fuel counter to see how many gallons entered your car or without a stop triggers on the handle to stop the flow of gas as it fills up. Well that is what HFCS does, it removes the mechanisms your body uses to know it doesn't need anymore fuel.
EXAMPLE:
Here is a scenario, maybe it is similar to yours. I goto corner sandwich shop and I get a 6” tuna with chips, soda, and a cookie. (remember this is an example) I sit and eat it all. I'm often sitting there thinking to myself “I'm still hungry”. Think about this and re-read. That is a lot of food and I'm still hungry. I try what I have been told, sit for a few minutes the food is still working its way down to my stomach. Ok, so I get in my car and 15 minutes later I'm still hungry. So I snack and snack and wonder what the hell, I feel like shit and I'm gaining weight to boot. Well there is HFCS in the wheat bread, soda, chips and the cookie. I'm not getting any messages from my stomach to my brain that indicates I'm full. I think your getting my point. Go look in your refrigerator right now, I bet you might be hard pressed to find anything without HFCS. One morning I looked at my new bottle of Syrup and by-god it didn't even have sugar in it, the first ingredient was High-fructose Corn Syrup. So I ran a little test, I made some of my own syrup. Not hard, simply 1 cup of water, 2 cups of sugar, 1 tsp maple extract. Cooked up two pancakes and to my surprise I was full. These where not any bigger or smaller than I normally make. I was blown away. I don't know about you, but I have visited good old IHOP and put down some pancakes and wounder how in the hell can I do that. Today I know how, thanks to High-fructose Corn Syrup I am able to eat way beyond the point my body was designed for. Oh, sure this is a good thing! WRONG!
TESTING
Here is a test, purchase a 12oz. bottle of soda made with sugar and a 12oz.. bottle of soda made with HFCS. Drink one on one day and the other the next day. Note the level of the soda in the bottle as you drink it and when you start to actually feel full. I think you are going to be amazed. When you do, please come back to my website and post your results.
So to tie it all together, my bodies natural and perfect mechanism to survive and thrive is to feed on food until it has had enough food, or until full. This is a very basic function. Therefor the High-fructose Corn Syrup stops this very natural process and when I stop eating before the messengers send the “Your Full” notice to my brain, I will feel deprived. High-fructose Corn Syrup is not food!.
SOLUTION:
Healthy food is not cheap, just look at the prices at whole foods or central market. It is crazy. But I have found that Archer Farms at Super Target is healthy and cheap. They even say it on the signs in the store, “Affordable Healthy Food.” MAKE SURE YOUR EATING REAL FOOD!

Now they are doing it through food. Take a look at any Kraft Food products and see if you can find any of their products that do not contain High-fructose Corn Syrup. They have changed their name so the stigma of being a killer company doesn't stay with them.
