Articles: Food Facts (JasonMorgan)
  Breaking the Plastic Code (JasonMorgan)
  New Dictionary (JasonMorgan)
| Most recent article: Food Facts by: JasonMorgan 2009-08-02 12:02:49 The following information is based on research I have conducted for both personal interest and for a Chemistry class I took at MIT.
Food Fact are the result of research I did using the following resources:
Tradition hard time at both UT and St. Edwards University, but also global library exchange with The University of Harvard in the USA, The university of Oxford in England and The University of Calgary in Canada and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). I also found lots of good info using google.com
Motivation:
I created Food Facts as a guide to use when I go grocery shopping. I also made it for my friends and family who share an interest in making smarter and healthier choices in their life. In addition, I recognize not every one has the time, inclination, or resources to do the amount of research and study required to fully understand the chemistry of food and the chemicals used by the food industry in America.
What I have Learned:
I have learn a great deal about the food industry and the business choices they make to gain a profit. Most importantly I have learned Caveat emptor is Latin for "Let the buyer beware". Yes this is true for the food you eat too.
Food Fact Files:
You can download and use as you wish, please remember to give credit where credit is due.

Articles: PEOPLE ASK WHY? Why I Carry a Gun (JasonMorgan)
| Most recent article: PEOPLE ASK WHY? Why I Carry a Gun by: JasonMorgan 2009-10-26 15:59:31 My old grandpa said to me son,' there comes a time in every man's life
when he stops bustin' knuckles and starts bustin' caps and usually it's
when he becomes too old to take an ass whoopin'.
I don't carry a gun to kill people...
I carry a gun to keep from being killed.
I don't carry a gun to scare people.
I carry a gun because sometimes this world can be a scary place.
I don't carry a gun because I'm paranoid.
I carry a gun because there are real threats in the world.
I don't carry a gun because I'm evil.
I carry a gun because I have lived long enough to see the evil in the world.
I don't carry a gun because I hate the government.
I carry a gun because I understand the limitations of government.
I don't carry a gun because I'm angry.
I carry a gun so that I don't have to spend the rest of my life hating myself for failing to be prepared.
I don't carry a gun because I want to shoot someone.
I carry a gun because I want to die at a ripe old age in my bed, and not on a sidewalk somewhere tomorrow afternoon.
I don't carry a gun because I'm a cowboy.
I carry a gun because, when I die and go to heaven, I want to be a cowboy.
I don't carry a gun to make me feel like a man.
I carry a gun because men know how to take care of themselves and the ones they love.
I don't carry a gun because I feel inadequate.
I carry a gun because unarmed and facing three armed thugs, I am inadequate.
I don't carry a gun because I love it.
I carry a gun because I love life and the people who make it meaningful to me.
Police Protection is an oxymoron. If you've ever called the police to report a "threat" to your safety, the response you will get is, "there is nothing we can do until the threat is actually perpetrated". Free citizens must protect themselves.
Police do not protect you from crime, they are merely a deterrent to criminals (just like your gun is) and they just investigate crimes after they happen and then call someone in to clean up the mess. read more... |

"A true friend is someone who sees the pain in your eyes while everyone else believes the smile on your face" (jake)
"If you're alone, I'll be your shadow. If you want to cry, I'll be your shoulder. If you want a hug, I'll be your pillow. If you need to be happy, I'll be your smile... But anytime you need a friend, I'll just be me."

Never explain yourself. Your friends don't need it and your enemies won't believe it. - Belgicia Howell
Truly great friends are hard to find, difficult to leave, and impossible to forget. - G. Randolf
Friendship isn't about whom you have known the longest... It's about who came, and never left your side...
A good friend helps you up when you fall. A best friend pees their pants laughing, trips you again, and calls you an a**hole.
The best memories are the ones you can't explain and end up saying, "You just had to be there."
It is one of the blessings of old friends that you can afford to be stupid with them. - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Articles: Understanding Credit Scores (JasonMorgan)
| Most recent article: Understanding Credit Scores by: JasonMorgan 2004-12-10 12:17:42 This is the Short & Skinny, Long & Short and Quick & Dirty to understanding your Credit/FICO scores.
The Who: The big three repositories that keep track of your credit ratings are:
- Experian

Your FICO can range from 200 to 900. According to this model, the higher your score, the less likely you are to default on your loan. FICO is a mathematical model created by the Experian credit bureau as a tool for lenders to use in evaluating the risk associated with lending you money. FICO stands for Fair Isaac Company, the company that created the original scoring model.
What makes up your FICO score? There are 5 factors that make up your credit score.

Articles: Pareto's Principle - The 80-20 Rule (JasonMorgan)
| Most recent article: Pareto's Principle - The 80-20 Rule by: JasonMorgan 2004-09-20 10:37:31
How the 80/20 rule can help you be more effective
In 1906, Italian economist Vilfredo Pareto created a mathematical formula to describe the unequal distribution of wealth in his country, observing that twenty percent of the people owned eighty percent of the wealth. In the late 1940s, Dr. Joseph M. Juran inaccurately attributed the 80/20 Rule to Pareto, calling it Pareto's Principle. While it may be misnamed, Pareto's Principle or Pareto's Law as it is sometimes called, can be a very effective tool to help you manage effectively. read more... |

Articles: IP Filter Based Firewalls HOWTO (JasonMorgan)

Cable Modem and DSL Attack IP Numbers (JasonMorgan)
| Most recent article: IP Filter Based Firewalls HOWTO by: JasonMorgan 2006-02-18 11:06:03 IP Filter Based Firewalls HOWTO
Brendan Conoboy
Erik Fichtner

Abstract: This document is intended to introduce a new
user to the IP Filter firewalling package and, at the
same time, teach the user some basic fundamentals of
good firewall design.
1. Introduction
IP Filter is a great little firewall package. It does
just about everything other free firewalls (ipfwadm,
ipchains, ipfw) do, but it's also portable and does neat
stuff the others don't. This document is intended to make
some cohesive sense of the sparse documentation presently
available for ipfilter. Futhermore, this document will also
serve as documentation for syntatically compatible packet
filters (notably pf) and, wherever applicable, will point
out any important differences; however this document is
specifically targeted at the rules language and syntax, and
is not intended to be platform specific. Some prior famil-
iarity with packet filtering will be useful, however too
much familiarity may make this document a waste of your
time. For greater understanding of firewalls, the authors
recommend reading Building Internet Firewalls, Chapman &
Zwicky, O'Reilly and Associates; and TCP/IP Illustrated,
Volume 1, Stevens, Addison-Wesley.
